As one of the most active elements of language, language makes profound contribution to the development of world’s languages and communication of culture. The rapid development of society, science and technology has quickened the world globalization, and frequent cross-cultural communication is deeply affected by Chinese neologisms translation. However, the growing Chinese neologisms are in sharp contrast to Chinese neologisms translation. Reader’s horizon of expectations, reader’s role and status are always ignored. Therefore, the quality of translation is barely satisfactory. Still, the quality of Chinese neologisms translation is far from satisfactory, which hinders communication between China and foreign countries. In the process of translation, ignoring readers may not only impair the beauty of language, but also affect target language readers’ understanding of source text and the readability of translated versions. The thesis tries to study Chinese neologisms translation in perspective of reception aesthetics in the hope of making possible contribution to Chinese neologisms translation, spreading them and promoting transmission of language and culture.Firstly, the thesis makes a brief introduction of significance, research method and sources corpora of studying neologisms. A large number of scholars home and abroad are attracted by great richness of Chinese neologisms and Chinese features. Firstly, chapter one discusses definition, emergence and current situation of Chinese neologisms. Then, four main sources of Chinese neologisms are introduced. Causes of neologism and features of Chinese neologisms in recent ten years are concisely presented finally.Chapter two firstly analyses necessity of translating Chinese neologisms. As the rising of China’s international status and more and more frequent foreign affairs communication among countries, neologisms translation is of great urgency. This chapter analyzes status Quo and difficulties Chinese neologisms C-E translation. Although different theories have been put forward in accordance with different kinds of neologisms, the translation remains grave. The author states existing Chinese neologisms C-E translation difficulties including the following five respects:improper attitude and limited linguistics abilities of translators, ignorance of register, non-equivalence of meaning, differences between Chinese and western culture, and receptivity of target language for target readers. Facing the difficulties, the author analyzes the causes of them. Through careful analysis of defective translated versions, the author advances text for reference by a comparative study of Chinese and English.In chapter3, Chinese neologisms C-E translation is discussed in the light of reception aesthetics. To transmit culture carried in language and make translated versions easier to be accepted, the author firstly elaborates aesthetic effects in the level of sound, form and sense. Secondly, the author gives an introduction of reception aesthetics. At last, the reception aesthetics is employed to Chinese neologisms C-E translation to study strategies of the translation. The author presents domestication from the perspective of readers and horizon of expectations, but taking consideration of source texts, translators employ foreignization properly to keep the flavor of original language and culture.In chapter4, taking Chinese neologisms in recent ten years for example, the author puts forward methods of Chinese neologisms translation in perspective of domestication and foreignization, taking readers and horizons of expectations into consideration. In specific contexts, translators should apply strategies of domestication and foreignization flexibly in accordance with the needs and demands in the hope of attaining the aim of neologisms translation. The author does the investigation seriously on domestication and foreignization in the neologisms C-E translation by some typical case study. To obtain proper and perfect translated versions, it requires that language workers choose appropriate translation ways under different circumstances.Based on the analysis of four chapters, the relationship between domestication and foreignization is dialectically complementary However, in the process of Chinese neologisms C-E translation, translators are more likely to employ domestication to seek target readers’ understanding and acceptance of translated versions and satisfy the target readers’ horizon of expectations. Finally, target readers may get the closest feelings of neologisms as source readers.
