In-class teaching is the foundation of teaching design, which shows the teachers’ teaching philosophy and method, directly determines the teaching quality. Only by carrying out teaching practice, carrying out teaching design, various reforms and innovation work based on the actual situation, can we create classes suitable for students and popular among the students. In the light of the actual situation of Chinese beginners, the paper takes How Much Are an Jin of Apples? as an example which is selected from a book The Road to Success edited by Qiu Jun and published by Beijing Languages University Press. Combining with the author’s understanding of teaching Chinese as a foreign language, for example, creation of class situation, words learning, culture immersion, text study, the skills of listening, speaking, reading and writing, communication training etc.. the author integrates various new teaching ideas and methods and make innovations of teaching design by integrating practical activity situation with student-oriented teaching activities, teacher-student culture backgrounds with living habits, Chinese features with study habits. And the author gives a detailed explanation in order to illustrate the author’s understanding of in-class teaching Chinese as a foreign language.The paper consists of five chapters. In chapter one, the author introduces the study background, purpose, content and methods. In chapter two, the author presents the theoretical basis of the teaching design including five parts which are as follows:the theoretical basis of teaching design for Chinese as a foreign language, commonly-used methods and skills, reflections on teaching Chinese as a foreign language and the teaching design, analysis of textbooks, class types and students and teaching principles. In chapter three, the author presents the specific teaching design for the class How Much Are an Jin of Apples? and arranged the teaching content carefully and reasonably. In chapter four, the author reflects on the teaching and analyzes its merits and demerits. In chapter five, the author draws a conclusion for teaching Chinese as a foreign language. |
