Interpreting gained its position by the rapid development of multi-relationships between countries in all fields such as economy, politics and culture. The rising international status of China and the great effort that Chinese Government paid in this area have attracted a lot attention for interpreting.Among all types of interpreting and translation, news conference interpreting is the one that most usually be showed on the screen. For the excellent performance of the news conference interpreters in recent years, it widely catches the attention of interpreting lovers and learners. More and more people are focusing on how to be a qualified news conference interpreter, what qualities they should occupy, what interpreting strategies and skills they should learn to use. Though the research in this area is growing, it is far from enough. Most of the qualified interpreters are being occupied in their jobs, so it is of great importance to establish a firm theory foundation for news conference interpreting which is for the continuous development and prosperity of this career.This thesis intends to conclude some news conference interpreting strategies base on the interpreting of a news conference from the U.S. president Barack Obama. And do a further research of applying interpreting strategies such as, the use of logical correction and eluding strategy, how to handle the culture factors and complex sentences, the use of addition and simplification strategy, and the coping strategies when misinterpretation happens through comparative analysis. The writer hopes that the strategies that mentioned in this thesis will provide a reference for interpreting learners.
