The thesis studys Li He’s and Li Shangyin’s poetic color art through analysisand comparison, in order to find the similarity, difference and reasons. The thesis isdivided into four parts:The first chapter outlines the development of Chinese classical poetic color artand summarizes the poetic color art of each stage. Then, by listing Li He’s and LiShangyin’s all color words and their use frequency for comparison, the first chapterstatistically sorts out Li He’s and Li Shangyin’s color use difference.The second chapter conducts a detailed analysis in Li He’s and Li Shangyin’scolor use skills. By comparing their complementary color collocation and colorlesscollocation, it is found that Le He’s color collocation shows a trend of extraordinarychanges, while Li Shangyin usually adjusts the color collocation by setting shapes,proportion etc. Both of them prefer the scene far away from stong light shining,however, the former one seeks lustrous and dazzling color effects, the latter onefocuses on depicting light and color.The third chapter makes a comparison on poetry color function between Li Heand Li Shangyin. In mental function of color, Li He loves using white, black, red andand various colors to express his enthusiasm and rough life time presented by hisoutstanding talent and ambition, as well as his despair brought by grim reality. But LiShangyin blends yellow, green, cyan and purple to form a minute description of hisfeelings. In the creation of artistic conception, Li He likes using strong and rich colorsto create cold fantasy, which strives to attract people with colors; Li Shangyincombines elegant colors to build hazy and graceful poetic environment.The fourth chapter analyzes the reasons of difference of Li He’s and LiShangyin’s poetic color art. In Tang Dynasty, prosperous and stable socialenvironment and flourishing art become the base of their poetic color art. Li He andLi Shangyin carry on different color art styles from The Songs of Chu and theliterature in Nan Dynasty, furthermore Li He’s poetic color art has important effect onLi Shangyin. The third reason why they pay attention to color art is that they acceptthe influence of Taoist culture. In terms of the reasons of difference of Li He’s and LiSashangyin’s poetic color art, there are four reasons, aesthetic style which advocatesodd and beauty in the middle and late Tang Dynasty, different personal experiencesand personalities, different subjective tendencies and verses.
