The Investigate And Research About The Living Of Jinhua Wu Opera Folk Theatrical Troupe

Wildely popular among the regions like Jinhua, Lishui, and Quzhou, WuJu Opera, a generic term, fused the music from six operas, namely:Gaoqiang, Kunqiang, Luantan, Huixi Domestic r and Shidiao. As one of the traditional local operas, WuJu has a intimate relationship with its people, reflecting their unique characters and spiritual pursuits.Esearches in WuJu Opera have mainly focused on the text, music and performance for years. However, the research of survival conditions of the WuJu folk troupes is always neglected. In recent years, many opera researchers have adopted the methodology in anthropology and folklore as new ways to opera to look into traditional culture and achieved great accomplishments. That is why this thesis starts with the WuJu folk troupes to investigate Chinese traditional operas.As one of the important carriers of the local culture, WuJu folk troupes have reemerged among various folk holidays, rituals in many villages after evolution over hundreds of years, indicating the vigorous vitality of local culture.In order to learn the surviving conditions, four representative troupes have been chosen in this thesis, namely:Jinhua Youth WuJu Folk Troupe, China Garden WuJu Folk Troupe, Yongkang WuJu Folk Troupe, and Jinyun WuJu Folk Troupe. This thesis has made abundant investigation in their present conditions from six aspects, namely, organization, operation, daily life, performance, folk customs as well as audience. The relationship between cultural system, administrative management and WuJu folk troupes has been analyzed, with their possible positive effect in the construction of new countryside. Then some personal ideas have been proposed against the problems in their development.From the perspective of their organization, management and operation, the flexible market oriented troupes have reserved its original state. It is market that decides the operation of troupes and pushes forward its development. Among their various performances, different folk holidays, rituals have become their main stages. It forms the spiritual conversion of modern local people and cohesive force of these villages.The performing stage of troupes has become the core place of the local people. Their performance mainly lies in the traditional operas. With the evolution of people’s aesthetic appreciation and involvement of young people, various modern dances and songs are also emerging on their stage. In some sense, the troupes have become the bridge between modern and tradition. They create a new vigorous cultural situation, enrich local people’s spiritual life, and play an important role in the construction of modern countryside, which deserves our concern.Through dedicate analysis in WuJu folk troupes, this thesis has revealed one aspect of living conditions of traditional local opera arts under the protection of intangible cultural heritage in modern times so as to seek a new road for the development of Chinese opera.
