Each country’s national culture has its unique content and style, whichhidden in this particular attribute is formed thousands of years, and has beenuphold a set of value system. A content which is logical for the national memberprobably is very difficult to understand for members of other ethnic groups. Thisphenomenon can be seen in cross-cultural communication from time to time.Intoday’s world culture communication is inevitable, which requires us avoid usingour own values to understand each other or speculation.Sino-Japanese culture is very similar, there are lots of similarities inappearance. However, after the development of the times, its cultural characterhas generated many notable differences, and the influential factors are in variousaspects.This paper focus on the sense of Life and Death, mean to discover the Sino-Japanese cultural similarities and differences. By comparing sense of value theissue of life and death, the basic ethical norms, religious views of the twocountries, briefly summarizes the similarities and difference of the conception ofdeath.After comparative analysis we find out that Japanese sense of life anddeath is: shame, honor, stigma; Chinese is a worthy death. Generally think,country, justice, freedom, and so on.”Loyalty” is the highest ethical standard inJapan, Chinese traditional ethical is “filial piety”. Japanese’s view of life anddeath problems are mainly influenced by Shinto’s allegiant to the emperorthought and Buddhism’s views. Chinese people are influenced by Confucian’sfilial piety centered sacrifice and Buddhism reincarnation thinking. Above arethe main factors that generate two different values of life and death.
