"Montage"Transliterated from French, is applied in architecture, which meansinstallation, configuration and assembling."Love is Waiting", which takes seven days toshoot and three weeks to process, lasts for forty-nine minutes, telling us a pure love storyon campus. The story begins with the first meeting of the hero and heroine on thewelcome party. Then they know each other in the painting studio and fall in love. However,when graduation approaches, they have to separate from each other, because their lovefaces cruel reality. Ten years later, when things have changed, the hero and heroine have achance encounter at the place where they first meet. When the heroine comes back to theschool, where she first falls in love with the hero, a myriad of thoughts crowd into hermind. At the moment she turns round, her originally beloved hero has been there. Theinitial beauty of love prompts them to hug each other, hoping for a happy ending. The filmis used to reflect the present social phenomenon which will evokes people to make acomparison between love and reality and consider which is more important: love ormaterial. It aims to inspire young people to live positively and start their own business. Itwill bring people positive energy and confidence that love can eventually defeat materialand achieve a successful outcome. The technique of montage has been used of extensivelyin the making of this film. This type of montage was pioneered by Griffith and otherAmerican film masters, which is the most common narrative method in film. It ischaracterized by giving the plots and showing the events as its theme, and then slitting andcombining scenes following the plot development with the flow of time and cause andeffect relationship to guide the audience to understand the story. Through different scenesto change the length of space and time is just where montage applied. In this film,montage is employed many times to change time and space. Eventually, a complete film isaccomplished. It is a unique work which is coherent and smooth with a clear meaning,distinct theme and artistic appeal. The montage of scenes and the relationship among eachscene have the audience to think and form a work with the life experience of the directorto present to the audience, express emotions and be understood by the audience. Everywork is the posture and mark of life, which also shows the integrity of human’s valueorientation in life.
