Xu Wei ’s painting is the research object in this paper, and the sentence “Tao inthe banter” from his poem on painting “Dongfang Shuo Stealing Peach ImagePraise” is the core proposition.Among them, the " banter " as Xu Wei ’s painting is astraightforward and naturally, the ink game. However, Xu Wei ’s ink game is notirrelevant, meaningless, and in the behind of the view of " Tao"; Xu Wei hidden in thepainting of the "Tao" with the color of life liberation, he wants to pursue eternal lifethrough painting meaning.Xu Wei ’s painting has inherited the " ink play " creative ways, his paintings aremostly degage, not for the shape. But with the traditional " ink play " different, XuWei ’s painting also implies a view of " Tao ", which lets his paintings covered with adeep layer of content beauty. Handing of the relationship between Tao and banter, XuWei has inherited the thought of Chuang Tzu, which is any where. Xu Wei puts as theworld reality and the life of the existence of "Tao" hidden in the ink game, hispaintings seemingly random nature, straightforward simple and obvious, but in theback of the form, it relates to the existence of Tao. This requires us to theinterpretation of Xu Wei and appreciate his paintings to shedding surface and towitness the inner reality.
