This paper is based on Krashen’s Affective Filter Hypothesis and Horwitz’sForeign Language Classroom Anxiety Scale to study the English language anxiety ofsecond-year postgraduates of science in Shandong Polytechnic University, especiallythose students’ communication anxiety and test anxiety. This study adoptsquestionnaires to collect related data and the Statistical Package for Social Science(known as SPSS) Version19to analyze data. Analyses and discussions show that:(1)The English language anxiety is still common among them. No matter what, thesestudents are all having a higher level of communication anxiety.(2) Students’ Englishlanguage anxiety is mainly embodied in the aspect of English speaking.(3) Studentsplanning to receive further education are having a higher level of communicationanxiety while students deciding to work after graduation are having a higher level oftest anxiety. This study also makes contributions to foreign language teaching.Research results inspire the university authorities, English teachers, and studentsthemselves to pay more attention to postgraduates’ English learning and Englishlanguage anxiety, and to stimulate effective teaching and learning measures toimprove students’ English competence and guarantee them a better future.
