The Interpretation And References Of The "Relationship" From Marlene Dumas’s Work

Marlene Dumas is one of the famous international contemporary women easelpainting artists. Her works are of unique style, strong conceptual and profoundmeaning, which stands for some parts of the trend of the Western figurative painting.In order to get a better knowing of the Western contemporary painting, and findanswers to the confusion of the author’s own, which is caused by the differencesbetween Western contemporary art and Chinese contemporary art, the author chosestudy the “relationship” from Marlene Dumas`s art work. By traced back Dumasupbringing, this paper organized and analyzed3relationship of Dumas`s art work,which is “the relationship of human being”、“the relationship between see and seen”、“the relationship between image and fact”. Through three clues, the authorsummarized the concept of Dumas`s art work, the one hand from a postmodernistculture environment, on the other hand comes from her experience during herupbringing.
