It has found that more than one hundred of the library cave at Tunhuang.Tunhuang documents recorded text is also a preacher, and even a roll of papers haveseveral versions available. With the development of network technology, the originaldocuments of Tunhuang have been published on the library website. Though theoriginal Tunhuang documents recording paper compared with the original volume,and review and studying on the original volume again, there is the possibility of areality. This paper recorded《西州图经》is based on examination of original volume,and studying on 《西州图经》in the background of the Tang Dynasty. On the basis ofthe predecessors, expand the search volume on historical documents, combined withthe new publication of Turpan documents and archaeological data, in order torediscover 《西州图经》 by the value and significance.《西州图经》contained in the eleven road is in the path to surrounding areas inTang Dynasty. These recorded西州roads link with the surrounding areas, is thedevelopment of the economy, politics, culture`s microcosm in西州andsurrounding areas. This paper mainly on the original volume of《西州图经》, takingrecords on other versions, to review the text of 《西州图经》. The foundation of thistext, are studying the relations of西州in the Tang Dynasty and the surroundingareas in the political, economic, cultural and other aspects. Finally, we redefine theTang Dynasty`s strategy to Westward Development. On the basis of the research,we discovers the road of西州construction thought, and found Tang Dynasty`straffic construction and overall political goals in the behind of 《西州图经》.
