The Modern Ink burn out from personal feelings.It focus on interaction with theera, life and thus to find a new growth point for the development of Chinese inkpainting.Among all of these, a very important phenomenon: the emergence of urban themeink portrait.Since the85’s trend, modern ink gradually develops. As a branch ofmodern ink, Urban Ink, unlike traditional ink is also different from the realistic Ink.Urban Ink appears at "The Second Shenzhen International Ink Painting Biennale",2000, expecting to broaden the range of subjects of Chinese ink painting in the form ofink to show scenes of modern urban life, features of life and characters. Paintersengaged in the creation of modern ink painting always feel the different eras, thechanges in life, the strong impact of Western art in the process of urbanization.Theircreation is undoubtedly requires new thought and new areas of expression. In thiscontext, the artists break the stylized form of traditional painting and create a personalstyle language features to correspond the Ink expression of the times. Some of theseartists depict fragments of life around us, some depict big scenes to show the state ofthe bustling city, some depict a dreamy nature of symbolic expression to express thetanglement of the emotion and pursuit of the city people and some show theirdissatisfaction with urban life in the form of humor. We need creative elements fromall aspects to the express the urban characters. The black-and-white drawings againstthe background of urban life came into being. This makes immeasurable contributionsto the modern transformation of Chinese ink painting.This paper lets people make a reflection of their way of life and culturalenvironment by doing the research of the ink portrait of the theme of urban life. At thesame time to address the problems encountered in the development of the ink portraitof the theme of urban life, which has very great significance to the development of inkportrait.Based on this I will carefully sort out my knowledge about ink portrait of urban theme. This paper is divided into four chapters. First chapter Infers the urban themesink portrait is inevitable in the development of development ink painting. It is anoverview of the urban theme ink portrait. The second chapter make a comparison ofink portrait on the theme of urban life and traditional ink portrait in a detailed way. Thethird chapter is based on new visual, new language of the theme of urban life inkportrait. It Analyzes the theme of urban life ink painting in the contemporarydevelopment of different styles and types by combing the cases of the theme of urbanlife ink painters in order to clarify it is moving in the direction of personalized,diversified booming. The last chapter is about awareness of the urban theme inkportrait based on my own work. Prospects of Ink portrait of urban theme are verybroad and hopefully it can receive more attention and understanding.
