The Transformation Of Function Of Penang Teochew Association(1920-1960)

The purpose of this thesis is to discuss the evolution of function of Singapore,Malaysian Chinese clansmen association.Taking Penang Teochew Association as the object of study, mainly on conferencerecord revenue and expenditure books in-depth analysis, comprehensive use ofrelevant literature.By measure of historical anthropology approach, the auther haslaunched in-depth fieldwork in Penang,Malaysia. On the basis of systematicallyanalyzing the literature, thesis analysis the evolution of function of Penang TeochewAssociation from1920to1960, and discuss the underlying reasons for this evolution.The paper is divided into introduction, main part and conclusion. Based on thedescription of the social and historical background of the Penang TeochewAssociation, the main part contains two aspects: Firstly, discussing the evolution offunction of Penang Teochew Association. Statistics the balance of payments accountsof association, from the point of view of the funding for revenues, expenditures tosort out the changing context of the association. Discussing conference implicit socialfunction, to show the process of evolution of Penang Teochew Association. Secondly, Explain the reasons of this evolution. By analyzing the association in the leadershipand organizational structure to make the adjustment and reform, explore theorganizational structure changes impact on the the evolution of function of PenangTeochew Association.This study shows that, the evolution of function of Penang Teochew Associationexperienced from the the care hometown building to concerned about Malayaconstruction, from security benefits to fight for the functional evolution of theChinese civil rights. At the same time, Teochew Association amended its articles in1947and decided to implement the three-stage system.
