With the improvement of China’s economy and its status in the international arena,the Chinese government and many of the Chinese scholars have realized the importanceand embarked on the path of spreading Chinese culture to the rest of the world.A large number of academic papers on the topics of culture and cultural worksimmerged to provide feasible methods and suggestions in this regard. This has made greatcontribution to the improvement of China’s soft power. At present, a large quantity oftranslation research and practice is "looking from the inside to outside",that is to look forways or methods of spreading Chinese culture from our own perspective. In choosing theoriginal text, the writer of this essay have considered the possibility that by knowingforeign works which are about China or Chinese culture we may gain some perspective inthe research of promoting Chinese culture to the rest of the world.This essay has analyzed and made some conclusions on the translation methods ofthe Wade-Giles Romanization and the Postal Romanization. The methods mainly include:First, Look up the the initials and finals of the Pinyin in Wade-Giles Romanization.Second, Look up the the initials and finals of the Pinyin in the Postal Romanization. Third,detect the translation according to the pronunciation, context or background informationand then test it. Normally the three methods are used comprehensively to find out thecorrect translation of Pinyin in translating the original text.The translation of Pinyin is of great importance in the spreading of culture. The essaymainly focuses on the Pinyin translation of name of places and people as well as somewords with Chinese characteristics in the hope that it can be of some assistance or help toother researches.
