A Study Of Chen Siyi’s Essays

Since the "new era", owing to reform and opening up and the emancipation of the mind, essay as a literary style which closely related to our times gets its revival and prosperity, made a large number of outstanding essayist, works. Chen Siyi and his essay works, is one of the most representative one.In this thesis, Chen Siyi’s essays that he created since1980’s are chosen as the main object of study. By combing his essays’ creation path, perusing his works and understanding his writing ideas, explore the uniqueness of Chen’s essays in the aspect of thought and art. The body is divided into three parts:the first part, Chen’s essays in the twentieth century, especially since the1980s are taken care of in the backdrop of the Chinese essay development, evolution, combing the stylistic features of the modern essays and contemporary significance, and interpreting Chen’s mental disposition and essay ideas. The second parts focus on induction, analysis and evaluation of Chen’s essays and its themes. By reflection on history, concern about reality and common sense speech, Chen’s essays expresses our cultural traditions, his profound reflection of real life and deep concern to our society. In this case, the performance of a modern knowledge of the human conscience, courage and character is fully showed. The third part, discuss and comment on Chen’s essays in the aspect of the style, art exploration and practice. Drawing on the tradition of Lu Xun as the representative of modern essays, Chen creatively applies and develops the new style of the essays:"the Fable Essay","Poetry Talks Essay","Text Poetry Essay". These forms provide a new experience to essays stylistic development and innovation.
