Themost important implication conveyed in the discussed situation, whether dealing withadventure, honor or morality, is that Greeks never stopped in pursuing excellence. It isthis consciousness that propelled them to better themselves, which provided thepossibility of exorcism. When it comes to the unfolding process of exorcism, we studiedthree important facts, namely, the confrontation between heroes and devils, battle ofintelligence and assistance from Gods. All these three forms of exorcism have none theless displayed the core value of heroes in searching for excellence. In our view, heroes’ideal of pursuing prominence and becoming true heroes couldn’t be achieved withoutthe step of exorcism.Next, this article will deal with the metaphor of motif of exorcism by heroes. Meanwhile, wealso uncovered the oppositional relation between good and evil in humanity implied inexorcism motif and the subconscious balance state they are longing for in the bottom oftheir heart. This chapter seemed unrelated to the theme of pursuing excellence, but theauthor must see that the metaphor in analyzing devils is no less an explanation of thehardships on the journey to excellence. The metaphor used in exploring significance ofheroes and motif of exorcism is nothing but to illustrate the forms in the search ofexcellence.Last is devoted to motif of exorcism by heroes in the sublime view of aesthetics. This chapter rotated around three aspects of “wild romance”“colour of humanity” and“sublime style”.In our opinion, heroic myths in ancient Greek is featured by upholdingstrength.
