| This paper will start from The Image of the City by Kevin Lynch, the famous American urban theorist, based on the analysis of the art of film’s, to do the rese arches on Taiwan Kaohsiung films since2003. This paper aims to study on the Ka ohsiung city elements in these films and to explore the artistic techniques as well a s functional effects in the expression of cities.The study revealed that Kaohsiung Harbor as well as the Sunbeam Pier Harbor and the Love Pier Harbor are frequently appeared in Kaohsiung films after2003, f ollowed by Love, Cijin, MRT Station and1985Building Buildings, which turned o ut to be the two outstanding elements:Landmarks and nodes. Before the1990s, Ka ohsiung films focus on those city elements:West Bay, Kaohsiung Railway Station, t he Center Color Screen, Container Terminal, and etc. Those are the most urbanized features in Kaohsiung before the1990s. After2003, the focus of Kaohsiung films is also transferred to those buildings with the21st century Kaohsiung city featuring elements, such as Kaohsiung Harbor, the Sunbeam Pier Harbor, the Love Pier Har bor, MRT stations and eighty-five building.This paper also points out that Kaohsiung films can play the important media ro le in the competitive advantage of Kaohsiung port development, in building the city port sightseeing, as well as in the cultural industries of the port city. The creative ideas and attentive attitude to Kaohsiung films are varied greatly with the urbanize d development of the city and are deeply influenced by the film policy from the g overnment. Due to the edification of the tropical oceans in the South, as well as t he planning development policy, Kaohsiung films highlights the warm and optimisti c, honest and rustic, inclusive and opening spiritual character as well indomitable vi tality. |
