A Report On The Translation Project Of Screenplay B-29

B-29is a screenplay written in Chinese with documentary style, which is going to be made into a film in the near future. Screenplay translation can be classified into the category of literature translation, while it has its own special and unique characteristics. Based on the Chinese-English translation of the screenplay B-29, the present translation project report makes a detailed description and summary on the process and the completion of this translation task.This report is comprised of five parts. In the beginning, it makes a brief analysis of the language style and features of the screenplay, and then expounds the procedures of the translation practice, including the preparation work, translation methods and proofreading. Meanwhile, it applies Peter Newmark’s translation theory into the analysis of the text type and explores the theoretical basis as the proof of translation strategy and methods which are adopted to guide the translation practice. The translator gains experiences through the detailed analysis of typical examples and makes a summing up on the translation methods of this project.Through the translator’s own practical experience, the report summarizes the principles and methods that can be followed in the translation of screenplay, and gives advices and opinions for the translation of screenplay. Moreover, there exist problems and limitations in the translation and its report. It is expected to be revised and improved to be a perfect piece in the future. In the end, the author hopes this translation project is referential to its kind.
