1995is a very unusual year to Japan. In January,7.2earthquakes occurred in theHanshin area, and then the sarin gas attack in Tokyo subway was manufactured by theAum Shinrikyo in March. The two things shocked contemporary Japanese writerHaruki Murakami, enabled him to have a more in-depth thinking of the Japanesesociety, Murakami turned to intervene in the Japanese society.The two events beyond the day-to-day imagination, Murakami subconsciousthoughts gradually revealed out. Murakami did a long, detailed interview for thevictims of the sarin gas attack in Tokyo subway and the Aum followers, then finallypresented the documentary literatures to the readers. The documentary literatures were"Underground" and "At the appointed place"(Underground2), which won theKuwabara Takeo Arts Award in1999. Murakami also had written a collection of shortstories about the Great Hanshin Earthquake, the book was "Children of God, alldancing"(after the earthquake). Murakami involved in the Japanese society with aclear attitude and practical actions.The thesis is divided into five sections to discuss Murakami to Japanese society’s"intervention". The first part introduces study of Murakami in the world and two hugedisasters occurred in Japan in1995, the Great Hanshin Earthquake in January and thesarin gas attack in Tokyo subway in March, from the Murakami entire creativeprocess to analyze Murakami of Japanese society "intervention", he never gave upsocial responsibility, but the way is changed; the main theme of the second part is thatthough "Underground" analyzes that Murakami concerns about the victims of thesarin gas attack in Tokyo subway, that showing his care for individuals as well as theemphasis on the unique life experience; the third part around "At the appointed place",analyzes about Aum Shinrikyo’s thinking of Murakami, he nakedly revealed systemand human nature of evil to wake up the world,the words of institution, good and evil,story as the keywords; the fourth part around the "Children of God, alldancing",Murakami through hanshin earthquake reflected and criticized the lack ofcommunication and trust、love of Japanese society, then used love and tolerance toheal and encourage directly or indirectly hurted people in the disasters; the fifth parton basis of the three works, grasp Murakami’s "intervention" from the whole analysis.
