In Chinese ancient paintings, the Ruled painting is often placed in a "craftsmen"position, that is just a painting skills no charm at all, this argument can be drawing theancient art of prejudice and misunderstanding of the Ruled painting. In fact, in thedevelopment of ancient painting history, the Ruled painting is the most accepted bypainters and painting, even for the palace and the appreciation of painting andadvocating, had its glory and prosperity period. But among the various references ofthe Ruled painting through words, is not targeted to do specialized research.And freehand ink painting and leisurely pen not to shape differences, the Ruledpainting is in pursuit of a constructed between ink interest rules testimonies andunique aesthetic.The purpose of this paper is to review the historical origin and thedevelopment of the Ruled painting, try system of their new understanding; from theartistic characteristics of its own and her on the traditional culture and other aspects,to make the analysis and the research to its unique esthetic connotation. I only hopethat through this study, can make more artists and the public on the Ruled paintingthis ancient art has been a comprehensive awareness and understanding, at the sametime to participate more in the inheritance and development of the Ruled paintingway help. To better achieve the Ruled painting to reproduce brilliant again in themodern era.
