The Research On Mode Of Development Of Cultural And Creative Industries In Shanghai

As one of the strategic industries in China, cultural and creative industries havebecome a hotspot. The development of cultural and creative industries is not only animportant part of the strategic plan of the transformation of economic developmentmode and adjust the industrial structure, but also a way to enhance the capability ofindependent innovation and competitiveness, and a way to help ease Environment andresource pressures. As one of the advanced regions of cultural and creative industriesin China, the grow rate of cultural and creative industries has speeded year after year.The proportion of output value of cultural and creative industries in Shanghai’s GDPhas risen to more than10%. Cultural and creative industries play an important role inShanghai’s economic development. However, there is still a large gap between otherdeveloped regions in the world. Therefore, it has a certain theoretical and practicalsignificance on a research of choose what kind of development mode of cultural andcreative industries in Shanghai.Firstly, based on the study of relevant documents, this thesis rearrangesdefinitions and classifications in several different countries and some representativescholars’ research productions in cultural and creative industries, in order to build afoundation of knowledge of the cultural and creative industries. Secondly, this thesisbegins to analyze current situation, tendency and comparative advantages of culturaland creative industries in Shanghai as three key factors to choose what kind of development mode. In the analysis of the current situation, this thesis reviews thecourse of development of cultural and creative industries in Shanghai. Based onstatistical data the Gompertz function is be used to determine which sections thecultural and creative industries are in industry life cycle. Then, a factor analysis buildsan evaluation system to analyze development tendency of cultural and creativeindustries from2003to2011. Nine original variables are selected as the sample data.And two common factors, named Traditional Industries Factor and Demand ofEmerging Industries Factor are found after calculations. Both of them have high levelimpacts on the development of cultural and creative industries in Shanghai. Accordingto weighted scores, the traditional cultural and creative industries play a leading rolein the growth of cultural and creative industries in Shanghai. And Demand ofEmerging Industries has increased and got higher and higher scores those years. Then,several important factors have been found by a brief analysis of current situations anddevelopment mode of cultural and creative industries in Beijing, the United Kingdomand the United States. Combined with current situations of cultural and creativeindustries in Shanghai, this thesis summarizes several comparative advantages inShanghai. Combined the analyses of current situation, tendency and comparativeadvantages, this thesis proposes to choose what kind of development mode of culturaland creative industries in Shanghai. At last, several proposals and measures areoffered.
