Musical hearing is expertise. It largely depends on the talent, but is also determined by the acquired development and training. The main purpose of the aural skills course is to organize and develop the musical hearing and apply it to the compositional or performance practice. But what kind of musical hearing could be considered as complete and advanced? What kind of musical hearing could really help us with our musical practice? How could we develop such an ability? The article claimed that advanced musical hearing should perceive music as an integrated organism, perceive music works as an integral structure, recognize and understand various elements or components from the perspective of their structural functions. The article is trying to demonstrate this concept through different examples, exploring the relevant possible teaching methods and training solutions.
