This is a project report on a translating practice, which is to translate the introduction of history, scenic spots and culture of Shanxi Province. It is of a sort of report for international communication with a great practical and aesthetic value. The expressions used are succinct and condensed while the content is rich and vivid. To be loyal to the source text and the target readers, the author carefully analyzed the fuzzy expressions used in the source text and compared the differences between the two cultures, which to assure the functional equivalence, instead of some kind of random translation or chaos.Being designed in four segments, this report proceeds firstly with introduction, secondly with process of project, thirdly with case analysis, then the conclusion as the fourth part. The author gives the introduction of the tourism publicity materials and the typical cases of fuzzy Chinese expressions, followed by the common ways of using Chinese fuzzy expressions in quantities, degree, mood and referent. All these signs occurring in the source text are fuzzy words, hedges or figures of speech. Next, these vague concepts are told and discerned and inferred, then translated in an appropriate way with recommended translation strategies. In the end, the author summed up some experience on translation.
