Countries are gradually integrating into one tiny world due to the cooperation in some fields, especially in the energy field. Every country establishes its law systems in energy development, so related parties must primarily learn its partners’laws and regulations; consequently the legal translation is increasingly important."Language is the carrier of the law, and fuzziness is one of the essential characteristics of natural languages, so fuzziness inevitably exists in legal language"(Zheng Yunxiang:2007:81-84). Today scholars focus on fuzzy linguistics and practice it into legal translation. They believe that if source texts contain vague meanings, in order to minimize the loss of original texts, translators should fully understand the vague meanings and use the flexibility and generality of fuzzy thinking to analyze the source text from the outside to the inside, from the point to the surface.Legal language has dual characteristics——preciseness and fuzziness. In this thesis, based on the author’s English-Chinese translation work——Iran Freedom and Counter-Proliferation Act of2012and characteristics of its fuzzy expressions, the author maintains that translators should primarily learn the background of laws and related applications of fuzzy linguistics in translation. As fuzzy expressions have been accurately identified, equivalent translation strategies and explanatory translation strategies can be comprehensively used-the literal translation method, the amplification of fuzziness, the transformation of parts of speech of fuzzy expressions, the transformation between fuzziness and preciseness, the modeling application into translation of fuzziness. Then target text readers can get the fuzzy "dos and don’ts" of the bill. However, the premise is to ensure the target text has fully conveyed "equivalent fuzziness" compared to the original fuzziness.
