As one of the traditional decorations on china wares, Crane played an important rolein Chinese traditional culture. Because of its graceful body and gentlest guise, Crane wasnamed as a first-class bird, only inferior to phoenix. As its long beak, neck and legs,Crane was a symbol of longevity and luck in Taoism, and often studied in science ofchina. This paper aimed to study the existing related literal datum and pictures with thescientific methods of iconography, history and art. Here we analyzed the humanismthinking of the creator and appreciator of crane ornamentations during Jia-Jing Dynastyin point of intuitionist artistry; the color character and drawing figure in point ofvisualization; and the formal beauty in point of aesthetics. Beyond the tendency oftraditional china ware researches which were mainly focused on process, technique andmeanings. We summarized that, in Jia-Jing Dynasty, crane ornamentations on chinawares had much connotation of Taoism and auspiciousness, and reflected continuous andrepetitive changes of rhythm and unified beauty of forms.
