"Say" is a verb which means "use one’s voice to produce words".It is a basic word in Chinese language and also can be found in English frequently. We pay attention to these words in Chinese language but not enough. From a research angle, it is mainly on grammar, seldom in semantics and word-formation. This kind of word is fewer used in comparative study between Chinese and foreign language. Let it used in teaching Chinese is less. This thesis compares the expressions of "say" in Chinese and English in three aspects.That is word systems, word-formation and word semantics.After comparing, we can find that in both languages "say" words have some similarities. The differences lie in:1) They belong to different language families.2) Chinese has a word-level concept3) the meanings are not completely same. These differences are difficulties for oversea students to understand the meaning of the words.Therefore, teachers need to use effective teaching strategies, so as to achieve a certain level of teaching results...
