Sage Or Dictator

The human being is animals who have purposes. All the purpose of human being,essentially, is the eternal pursuit of freedom. Freedom and tension are two concepts thatconnect closely, tension is the prerequisite for the pursuit of freedom, and the pursuit offreedom is the effort to resolve tension.Human existence is a kind of Dasein whose survival is based on temporality. Daseincan be divided in two parts, one called interior-Dasein and another called exterior-Dasein,they both based on temporality. Inevitably, the exterior-Dasein is subjected to the physicalworld, but the interior-Dasein not. The interior-Dasein and exterior-Dasein is notcompletely divided. The interior-Dasein may be fall into the physical world and subjectedto it. The exterior-Dasein could participate in human’s ereignis by the activity of unfold.The physical world is universal, so the exterior-Dasein could be understand universal, butthe interior-Dasein can only be individual Dasein and can only be understand individual.The interior-Dasein and exterior-Dasein are the double nature of human being. Asthe creature existing in this physical world, human being is the existence of commonness.At the same time, it is also the existence which survives in tension. So, the situation ofhuman must be political.The political philosopher is the model of resolving tension in human beings. Theyhave two characteristics. One is having the inner understanding of its own politicalsituation, and the other is the ability of making decisions to resolve the tension in humanexistence. How to make decisions through grasping the Dasein of oneself and remainharmonious, when face the tension in the political situation, is political philosophy.Wang yangming’s ideology has experienced two transformations. The first wastransform “what is the most important thing?” into “how to be a sage through study?”,and the second was change “how to be a sage through study?” into “what can a sage do insuch a situation”? Through the individual answer of the question “what can a sage do insuch a situation”, Wang yangming has become a political philosopher, and his ideologyhas become the political philosophy. Wang yangming’s political philosophy has threedimensions: the knowledge of suited situation, the knowledge of heart, the knowledge ofdecision.Modern liberalism is accompanied with science positivism and historicism, thedefect lies in its doctrinal relativism and nihilism. Wang yangming’s political philosophy,on the side of “to be a sage”, rejects the humanistic knowledge of science positivism and historicism, but educates participant, umpire and arbitrator in liberal democracy society.Though, in terms of the individual Wang yangming and its individual political philosophy,it is good for modern society.The limit of Wang yangming’s political philosophy is that it can only exist ininterior-Dasein as private language, but can not be a ready-made public theory exists aspublic language in the physical world. The source of slavery is that the individual truthexists as ready-made public theory. Wang yangming has embarked on the road ofenslaving public as he released the individual truth in the form of public language.The defect of liberalism need to remedy by resolute political philosopher, but theeducation of political philosopher must be implemented in a free and democratic society.Only in the free and democratic society, can political philosopher be prevented from theroad of enslaving public.
