With more frequent international communication, universities, including Guangxi University, have witnessed an increasing number of overseas visits to their English websites. On the one hand, in order to build a platform where oversea visitors have access to enough information of the university, the English website has to be developed on the basis of full respect to the target readers’ cultural background and thinking formalities. On the other hand, the target texts should not only provide information that target readers need, but also attract more attention from the world through C-E trans-editing. In terms of translation project management, this project is of practical significance due to its long period of time, complicated staffing, different text types and much cooperation of team work. Such a project is worth researching because the target readers have relatively high educational background, and the intensive information is required to be trans-edited in brief and readable target language. This report analyze the target readers, the parallel texts and the target texts based on the target readers’point of view in order to illustrate how to fulfill the informative and appellative functions of the target texts. Also, the report focuses on the discussion about how to adapt the professional project management to the translation project for universities’English websites. Finally, the report provides case study on the application of C-E trans-editing strategy against possible pragmatic, cultural and linguistic translation errors in the hope of offering valuable reference for the translators involved in similar projects.
