With the increase of China’s comprehensive national power and rapid development of the China-ASEAN Free Trade Area, Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region’s international trade has been developing soundly. A lot of governmental business and investment documents call for quality translation. The2012Guangxi Major Business and Investment Project is one of tasks given by the government. It is formulated by Guangxi Investment Promotion Agency, which gives detailed introduction of investment projects in Guangxi.Based on the author’s engagement in the translation of2012Guangxi Major Business and Investment Project, the author attempts to combine Skopos theory of which the representatives are Katharina Reiss, Hans J. Vermeer and Christiane Nord with the translation of governmental business and investment document. In order to improve the quality of translation of practical writing, the author analyzes the cases of translation and puts forward some suggestions for practical use by taking the Chinese-English translation of2012Guangxi Major Business and Investment Project as an example. The report consists of seven chapters. The first chapter briefly introduces the background of translation project, the significance of the study and the structure of the report. Chapter two is the description of the translation task which gives a brief introduction of the nature and features of the text. Chapter three is about the description of the translation process including pre-preparation of translation and post-translation matters. Chapter four provides the theoretical basis. This part expounds the definition of the Skopos theory and its application in China. Chapter five is the case analysis which is the essence of this report. Under the perspective of the Skopos theory, the author conducts an analysis about translation strategies of practical writing and translation skills including amplification, conversion, omission, dividing and restructuring. In the chapter six, the author generalizes some implications on translator, translation team and translation practice through the fulfillment of the task. In the last chapter, the author makes a general conclusion.
