In recent years, with the increase of Chinese comprehensive national strength and the boom of study in China, the number of the international students studying in Nanning is keeping rising. Therefore, the study of acculturation adaptation of international students studying in Nanning has become an issue. This study consists of111international students, who are currently studying in Guangxi University and Guangxi Medical University. The survey was enriched with Barry’s Acculturation Attitude Scale and one-on-one interviews, combined with the use of SPSS20.0(Statistical Package for the Social Sciences) to conduct a scientific quantitative and qualitative statistical analysis exploring the preference of acculturation strategies among international students in Nanning and the relative factors. The findings of this study are as follows. Integration is the most adopted acculturation strategy of the international students in Nanning, followed by separation and assimilation, and marginalization is the least welcomed one. Gender, age and length of stay are not notable factors. The HSK levels are significantly negatively related with integration and marginalization. Due to the cultural distance, Vietnam students are more inclined than Thai students to adopt the strategy of integration. According to different experiences in psychological and social-cultural dimension, and private and public life, individuals might use different or diffused models of strategies to deal with the acculturation problems. The interviews show that the majority of international students learn Chinese for instrumental motivation, only one for integrative motivation. Culture shock, Chinese language proficiency, social support and the management of international students have great effects on the international students’acculturation. Chinese capacity plays a critical role in the process of the international students’making friends and communicating with Chinese. Finally, on the basis of all of the above conclusions, the author makes several feasible proposes for the international student managements in the colleges and universities in Guangxi as well as the international students. The colleges and universities in Guangxi should develop new student orientation programs, promote commoditization management, increase social support channels for international students, and reform the models of teaching Chinese as a second language. Meanwhile, the international students should improve the ability of integrating, assimilating and cross-culture adaptation.
