| TV interviews have become an important way for people to acquire theinformation. Such programs can transcend the information and latest news in a timelymanner. The analysis and studies on discourse markers of TV interviews are supportedby the interdisciplinary studies of Pragmatics and Cognitive, which makes it moresystematic and comprehensive. Both domestic scholars and international scholarshave delved into discourse markers from the point of view of cognitive andpragmatics. They are not only concerned with theoretical studies but also its appliedstudies. Concerning applied studies, the previous studies are mainly about the analysisof the pragmatic function of discourse markers. Nevertheless, there are quite fewstudies on the translation of discourse markers from a theoretical perspective with thecombination of concrete corpus.On the basis of the previous studies, this paper is concerned with the translationof discourse markers in several different TV interviews. The reason to choose severaldifferent TV interviews is to make an analysis of discourse marker translation fromthe corpus under different context. By descriptive analysis and document analysis, itpoints out that no matter it is for coding the conceptual meaning or the inferentialmeaning, the speaker often uses discourse markers to constrain the interpretation ofdiscourse markers. Therefore, in practical translation, the discourse markers should becombined with the context and analyzed from the perspective of optimal relevance ofthe Relevance Theory, so that the best translation choices can be made.With the application of Relevance Theory in the translation of discoursemarkers, the study on discourse markers as well as the Relevance Theory is deepenedin such specific corpus. This paper discusses the translation principles and methods ofdiscourse markers in TV interviews. It can facilitate the better translation of discourse markers, which can help the hearer to better understand the TV interviews. |
