This thesis presents an analysis of my experience and failure in concise stylecommunication and reproduction of Hemingway from parts of the E-C translationof The Sun Also Rises which embody concise style. Firstly, this thesis introducesthe special significance of Hemingway’s concise style communication andreproduction and Hemingway’s dominant and recessive concise style. Secondly, itbriefly introduces the translation process and the theoretical guidance of how tocommunicate and reproduce the concise style of the original text. Thirdly, itfocuses on the dominant and recessive concise style communication andreproduction on verbal and ideological levels respectively. In the first part, itprobes into the approaches which facilitate the dominant concise stylecommunication and reproduction utmost. The approaches include amplificationand taking advantage of the target language on lexical level, compressing allhidden information into the Chinese version by building on the premise of beingdecoded easily by Chinese readers on text level; in the second part, it probes intothe approaches which facilitate the recessive concise style communication andreproduction. Finally, the thesis gives an elaboration of the experience andfailures in the process of E-C translation especially in the process ofcommunicating and reproducing Hemingway’s concise style, and finally how Icorrect the mistakes. In a word, it aims at offering some references to the concisestyle communication and reproduction of Hemingway from the E-C translation ofThe Sun Also Rises.
