Research Status Of Traditional Lacquer Art Culture In Jiangxi Poyang

Poyang bodiless lacquer ware has a quite long history, which can be dated backto the Han Dynasty. After the Ming and Qing Dynasties, it earned the great reputationin the Jiangnan region. It not only has nobleness character like cloisonne, but alsoelegant like ceramics. With exquisite and light body, as bright as a mirror, simple andsolemn, it has a distinctive national style and strong local characteristics. Togetherwith Beijing Cloisonne and Jingdezhen Porcelain, they are known as three treasuresChinese handicraft articles.In recent years, the Ministry of Culture has continued to improve the protectionpolicies of intangible cultural heritage, and growing attention has been given to thetraditional handicrafts. The beauty of Poyang lacquer is again explored andrecognized by the whole world. Having approved by the State Council,“Poyangbodiless lacquer decoration” has been officially added into the third batch of nationalintangible cultural heritage in October2011. This major historic breakthrough givesrenewed hope to the Poyang lacquer cultural industries.The paper is divided into several sections to carry out the discussion. Firstly, itgive a comprehensive overview on history, origin, characteristics of Poyang lacquerin Jiangxi Province. Secondly, it focuses on the status of Poyang lacquer cultureindustry, and analyzes the difficulties that hinder its development and opportunitiesthat promote its growth, therefore paves the way for proposing strategies ininheritance and innovation ways in the following text. At last, according to the aboveexploration and research, the author summaries the development trend of Poyanglacquer culture in the modern environment and the outlook for the development ofChinese lacquer.The main purpose of this paper is to carry out the analysis by combing thePoyang traditional lacquer culture development context and its artistic characteristics,as well as research status of local lacquer culture industry, combined with thedifficulties and opportunities faced by traditional lacquer art in contemporary society,hoping to explore a realistic approach for its inheritance and innovation.
