Zheng is a traditional Chinese musical instrument. There are numerous schools and abundant works of Zheng in the world. With the constant pursuit and development of musical art, Zheng has developed more varied musical skills and excellent capability of artistic expressions. So more and more composers, both domestic and foreign, have created musical works for Zheng, which has gradually become one of the main instruments on national and international music stages. In this paper six pieces of Ballades for koto solo vol.2"Spring " from the Ballades for koto solo by Minoru Miki will be discussed, whose titles are:A Young Sprout, March, Skylark, Around My Country, Prelude for "The Greening", and The Greening. The background, the features, the interpretation of them and their musical aesthetics will be studied systematically. Therefore a more comprehensive and systematic interpretation of the Japanese music style of koto music will be made in this paper. At the same time it will be helpful for a better interpretation of the Japanese twenty-one-string koto works with the Chinese twenty-one-string Zheng. |
