Susan sontag was a great literary artist, and she was a brave and insisted original thinker, and she held the great courage to pursue the warriors of truth. She stood for the new and independent thoughts for western people, She claimed the against interpretation theory in the time of interpretation, she emphasized to use "new sensibility" to revaluate the art. She strictly practiced the intellectual code of conduct, insisted on defending the sovereignty of the creative spirit and imagination.It is undoubtedly that Lin yutang’s high position in the history of Chinese modern literature. He deeply understood the Chinese and western culture, erudite and informed, then blended. He was called the "great master of language","humor master", and "China giant in literature". He acted as a famous Chinese writer and translator to claim the writing and translation thoughts of "leave the question open" and he also practiced the ideas with her passion and her whole life.They had the different cultural backgrounds and identities, but they did a striking resemblance and fit on the propositions of the interpretation and against interpretation. This finding is also a process of collision and mutual comparison in Chinese and western culture and thoughts.The Paper was took the ideas as the context, along their similarity in growing experiences, educational background and ideological trajectory, then was attempted to reveal the ideological reasons, especially to encounter the problems in the against interpretation and thoughts of "leave the question open", we found that they displayed and appeared respective characteristics in the attitudes and countermeasures, that also was the focus of this thesis.And the meaning was, to comparative study on this part and to cut into the point, to find out the similarities and differences between Chinese and western culture, and last, to promote the further study of the thoughts and cultures and communications between with Chinese and western.
