Ji Lei Bian is a note composed by Zhuang Chuo, a scholar between North and South Song Dynasty, at the cost of his life’s efforts. The book takes on a realistic style which is particularly presented in the record of his personal experience and the realistic feature has made Ji Lei Bian an important note of the Song Dynasty. The personal experience has made up of the majority of the whole book, while some essays on poems, politics are also included. Zhuang Chuo’s academic rigor and remarkable textual research has guaranteed the cultural value of the book. Since the1980s, Ji Lei Bian has been gradually noted by researchers from related fields but the problem is that papers about Ji Lei Bian scatters in a variety of disciplines and they only focus on a few passages of the book, with the comprehensive study of the book remain untouched. The comprehensive study means the fundamental research of the author and the text and they are the basis of further research. This dissertation aims to solve the problem with the efforts in philological study, textual study and author study, hoping to pave the way for the further research of Ji Lei Bian.
