Language is a communication tool which is used to deliver information in different language environments. The large amount of cultural knowledge in literary work can help people learn a foreign language, and to promote the communication of people who live in different language environments. Reading foreign literary works can not only expand the vision of Chinese readers, but also help us know more about foreign cultures, and improve our reader’s taste in literature and language.This translation report aims to translate a novel and analyze the translation using translation skills and theories. The translation subject is the latest novel The Forgotten. The novel mainly talks about the experience of a special agent who comes from a military family. Highlighting his noble personality and sense of justice by the description of his efforts to detect a crime happened in a town.This novel is co-translated by the author and the other two students and the author translated from chapter53to chapter57, which plays an important role in connecting previous and following parts. The author uses four parts to represent the whole process of this translation practice, and realizes that translation is a high level language art. During translation, translators should realize the beauty of the original text, convey its rich thoughts accurately, and reflect its unique style and artistic conception.As there are great differences between Chinese and English, it is not easy to do a perfect translation. It requires that the translators should have profound qualities, and practice continuously in the future.
