In this paper, we use the principle of parallel comparison from the comparativeliterature study to present tow artists’ Deformation Art from East and West in differentways about deformation novel, the characteristics of deformation novel and deformedtheme.There is a main clue in the paper, that is deformation clue in two writers’ works, andthey all follow the level of the outside to the inside to elaborate. The clue of this paper isvery simple, clear. That is to understand Kafka’s and Akutagawa’s deformation literature.From the understanding that they are deformed literature to the characteristics of theirdeformation literature to their deformation novel deformation theme which summarizedand analyzed their similarities and differences.There are four chapters in the paper. The Chapter one introduces Kafka,Akutagawaand three elements of deformation novel. Chapter two directly into the body of the paper,including the definition of the concept of literary deformation;introduce deformationnovels of Kafka’s and Akutagawa’s works, expound the literature’s comparability of theworks from Kafka and Akutagawa; analyzed the common paradox, contradiction and thecharacteristics of authenticity and tragic behind absurdity. Chapter three detailed analysisof the four deformation theme in the deformation novel of the two writers’, they aresocial deformed, the deformation of the relationship between people, self-deformationand artistic deformation. The Chapter four introduces the difference of deformationtheme in the deformation novel of the Kafka and Akutagawa. The paper expounded thetheme in different way, there are two attitudes to face the deformation; one is the positivespirit of resistance, the other one is the negative spirit of escape. Finally, paper analyzedthe reasons of the difference.There are a lot of studies about Kafka, Akutagawa and three elements ofdeformation novel, but there is few study about the comparison of them. This is aninnovation about deformation theme of Kafkas’ and Akutagawas’ deformation novel. Bya comparative study on the Kafka and Akutagawa deformation novel, deeper and morecomprehensive understanding of the literary world of Kafka and RyunosukeAkutagawa.Italso inspired us to track the status of our own lives, to introspect the value of individual existence and meaning and the universal values of human society.
