Marguerite Duras (1914---1996), is one of the famous contemporary French womanwriter. She wrote more than forty novels and more than a dozen screenplays. Her novels arefamous for concise poetic language, accurate description of conflict and pain withincharacters. The first chapter mainly discusses theconnotation of the tragic consciousness in Duress’s novels. We think that her novel reveal theineffective struggle and tragic fate of the human in the predicament through the description ofsurvival predicament, desperate love and death theme. Her novels highlight the humansurvival predicament and the impossibility of getting rid of it. Her works emphasize thefailure, but at the same time, they vigorously write the process of human struggle and stressthe meaning and power of spirit, which constitute the main contents of the tragicconsciousness in her novel. The second chapter mainly analyses the reasons for her tragedy consciousness from thegrowth background of her. We think many factors such as loveless and poverty childhood, battered body, dual cultural backgrounds confusion, homeless suspended sense, reinforcedDuress’s thoughts on life tragedy, which is the main source of the formation of her tragedyconsciousness. The third chapter attempts to show the tragic consciousness in her novels from theartistic perspective. We think Duras, using the "little guy" tragic images, an open novelstructure and movie art technique and so on, rendered the impermanence sadness and despairof life, which strengthened the tragic consciousness of her novels. |
