Biography of Steve Jobs, written by Walter Isaacson, aroused intense attention as soon as published. The Chinese version is not the exception. It is not only because the ’Apple’sweeps the world, but also Steve Jobs’s personal charm. However, the Chinese version also brought many doubts. People regarded it not as consistent as the original, and the quality should be made further improvement.The thesis takes Andrew Chesterman’s translation norm theory to get rid of the doubts, through making comparisons between the target and source texts. The fact proves the translation of Steve Jobs conforming to translation norms. Translation norm theory constrains translation practice and the quality of translation text. In spite of that, translators still have initiatives to choose different translation strategies to react to translation norms.Andrew Chesterman’s translation norm theory adopts a descriptive approach to explain the relationship between translation norm and translation practice. It can be used in translation practice extensively, guiding translators to choose proper translation strategies in translation activities. The thesis make translation norm theory applied to biography translation, which can help us get a deep comprehension about biography translation works and improve the quality of translation.
