A Study On Marcuse’s Thought Of Human Development

Herbert Marcuse is a philosopher whose exploration centre is the human. Take a general view of Marcuse’s ideological system, we can know that he was concerned about the problems of the present human from beginning to end. He put forward a lot of original insights in the matter of the human nature, the human alienation and the development of human, which greatly widened ours research field of human problem. This thesis analyzed Marcuse’s theory on the development of human systematically in order to have a comprehensive understanding of its basic contents and master its essence deeply. The writer tried to excavate its value of humanistic concern and its positive connotation to the human problem in our modern society.The thesis has six parts:The first part is the introduction. This section introduced Marcuse’s life briefly, reviewed his academic career and summarized his theory on the development of human. It was aimed at explaining that researching his thoughts has important theoretical and practical significance to China’s socialist modernization.The second part is the historical backgrounds of Marcuse’s theory on the development of human. This section revealed the theoretical source and the social backgrounds of Marcuse’s theory mainly. On the basis of adsorbing and integrating the previous research results, Marcuse integrated with the changed social situation and devoted himself to studying the problem of human development. And this section embodied Marcuse’s positive attention and unremitting exploration to the human problem.The third part is the basic contents of Marcuse’s theory on the development of human. The section elaborated the basic contents of Marcuse’s theory systemically from the aspects of the human nature, the development of human, the main strength, the basic road and the ultimate goal, then tried to present Marcuse’s thought on the development of human fully and focused on understanding its ideological connotation from humanism perspective profoundly.The fourth part is the essence of Marcuse’s theory on the development of human. This part focused on analyzing dialectically and evaluating objectively of Marcuse’s theory on the development of human, then revealing its humanistic care value and the inevitable limitations, in order to grasp its essence fully.The fifth part is the modern implication of Marcuse’s theory on the development of human. This part aimed to clarify the modern value of Marcuse’s theory on the development of human, excavate its modern implication to our socialist modernization, and play its guiding role in dealing with the development of our country.The sixth part is the conclusion. This section reiterated the importance of studying human problems, affirmed Marcuse’s contribution to the development of human, summarized and reviewed the main contents of the thesis, and made a positive outlook for the future research.
