The Capacity On Constructing And Connecting Sentences Of Modern Chinese Mood And Modal Adverbs

Mood and modal adverb is a special kind of words in Chinese adverb. From syntax function, it not only has the general characteristics of the adverbs:acted as an adverbial in front of the predicate, also has a strong subjective and to express the speaker’s "voice" which are attitudes, beliefs, or evaluation of speaker on the proposition of sentences. It is because of its strong subjectivity, it has more flexible syntactic position distribution than the average adverbs. And in the aspect of sentence international association, the mood and modal adverbs can link the complex sentence or discourse, and has shown concatenation, causal and turning relations, etc. This paper investigated the mood and modal adverb systematically from combination of macro and micro perspective based on the special nature of the mood and modal adverb, including the following four parts mainly:Part One, mood and modal adverbs are defined and classified from three aspects. Firstly, the relationship between mood and modality is expounded; On this basis,mood and modal adverbs are described in a qualitative way. Secondly, the study scope of the mood and modal adverbs are determined according to the semantic framework; Finally, mood and modal adverbs are classified systematically from the perspective of macro and micro combined. In the macro level, the mood and modal adverbs can be divided into two categories:modal adverbs arid modal adverb; And to the micro level, modal adverbs and modal adverbs can be broken down into a number of small classes.Part Two, The ability of building sentence on mood and modal adverbs are examined in three ways. Firstly, the choice of sentence category with mood and modal adverbs are investigated;Secondly, the syntactic position distribution of mood and modal adverbs and their syntactic function are studied. Lastly, the factors which affect syntactic positions distribution of the mood and modal adverbs are further analyzed.Part Three, The ability of contacting sentence with the mood and modal adverbs are studied through four aspects. Firstly, based on the type of the mood and modal adverbs, semantic relations with sentence international association are inspected, which complex sentences coupling and textual links. Secondly, the way of sentence international association with the mood and modal adverbs are studied. Lastly, the pragmatic functions of sentence international association with it are investigated.Part Four, To make a summary and thinking about the structure sentence and linking sentences ability of the mood and modal adverbs though two aspects. Firstly, through investigation, we have come to a basic conclusions of the mood and modal adverbs’ structure sentence and linking sentences ability; Secondly, thinking of the "three law of sentence":on one hand,the discrete of "three law of sentence" is considered from the structure-sentence of mood and modal adverbs, on the other hand, the unity of "three law of sentence" is treated.It is discovered that mood and modal adverb showed great imbalance with the choice of sentence in building the sentence through some researches. On the one hand, the modal adverbs can only appear in the sentence tone type,rather the modal adverbs can appear in the a variety of sentence category. On the other hand, the choice of mood and modal adverbs with different sentences is tendentious. The distribution of syntactic positions includes mainly the beginning of a sentence, the middle of the sentence, the end of the sentence and an independent sentence, but the main factors affecting the location of the mood and modal adverbs consist of voice, semantics, syntax, pragmatics, etc.In the field of contacting sentence, firstly, mood and modal adverbs often have a dual function in sentence-together, and they remain commentary in terms of component modified; otherwise, they link sentences, show the semantic relationship of concatenation, causal and turning in terms of before and after the composition as well as the entire sentence or discourse. Secondly, the way of sentence international association with mood and modal adverb include the marked echoes and the unmarked echoes, conjunction and reusability, mandatory and non-mandatory; Secondly, the main factors affecting sentence international association of mood and modal adverbs include mainly semantic, syntactic positions and pragmatics, etc; Lastly, the pragmatic functions of sentence international association with mood and modal adverbs consist of displaying function, converting function, focus and default functions.This paper studies the mood and modal adverbs systematically, wishing that my work can contribute to academic research to mood and modal adverbs better.
