In the early20th Century in which China experienced the decay of Late Qing Dynasty and the establishment of Republic of China, against the domestic trouble and foreign invasion incubated modern society. With the rapid development of industrialization, commercialization and modernization, Shanghai had already been the economic center of Asia at that time. The feudal aristocratic family background and the emergence of new social classes had great influence on Chang and her works. Chang was born in a declining and corrupt aristocratic family, which made her receive education on traditional Chinese culture as well as western modern education.In the thesis the writer aims to analyze Chang’s Ethics of Belief as well as the Characters’Incarnation in her works mainly from the following aspects:First, there is a brief introduction of Chang’s writing view which was normally ignored neglected as well as her political standpoint which was generally misunderstood. To illustrate Chang’s original pursuit of truth, the thesis analyses not only Chang’s creation background, but also her writing attitude, skills and strategies that were expressed in her works.Secondly, to demonstrate the living philosophy of characters in Chang’s works,here detailed instructions and discussions of various of characters with typical features of that time, which show how the characters struggled against the social pressure in the confusing period for living, are stressed.Thirdly, presenting the condition of Chinese belief, the thesis provides detailed analysis of Chang’s ethics of belief and characters’incarnation, which mainly reflect on the characters’concept of life, living philosophy, attitude and pursuit.Fourthly, to dissect the ultimate belief of Chang, there are discussions on Chang’s attitude to life and tunes of creation, which base on the cycle of life, the death accompanying with life and the dream returning to reality.Last but not the least, there is a summary of Chang’s ethics of belief, aiming to conclude the attitude of love, the Lord of Land, the expectation and belief of Chang. Meanwhile, the importance and influence for further research are presented as well in the last chapter.
