In the history the Emperor Wu of Liang has been criticism by later generations, because in the rule of the late he addicted to Buddhism and rebellion of Hou Jing which led to Liang Dynasty’s death. Since the establishment of Modern History, There are a lot of research on the Emperor Wu but few of personal concept of ideology which also affects the correct evaluation of the Emperor Wu.The Emperor Wu’s family background and personal experience combined with the social thought at the time and the political situation led to its early years attracted to Confucianism. His childhood to accept "Ritual" and "Filial Piety" of the Confucianism laid a foundation which he later rely on Confucian thought ruled the country after the establishment of Liang. Early in his rule, Emperor Wu with the guidance of the core idea of the Confucian thought and culture, which is the thought of kingly way and benevolence, the thought of people and the thought of great unity, carried out a series of measures to consolidate his rule, leading Liang Dynasty reached the peak of the Southern. Later, in order to maintain the imperial power and stabilize the political situation, his personal belief is from the Taoism to the Buddhism. Late in his rule, Emperor Wu addicted to the Buddhism, causing his officialdom showed significant Buddhist color, but he did not abandon the Confucian thought addicting to the Buddhism at the same time, while he wanted to blend the Confucian thought in the Buddhist thought, so as to alleviate the contradictions of Confucianism and Buddhism. However, Confucianism and Buddhism are the contrary, and it is difficult to parallel. So Emperor Wu addicting to the Buddhism brought only economic damage and political corruption of Liang Dynasty, once in the early beginning to achieve the prosperity of South Liang Dynasty gradually driven into an impasse.Belief in Confucianism and Buddhism in the period of Emperor Wu, which provides a rich cultural heritage for flourishing culture and a high level of civilization of Sui and Tang dynasties. His theory of "Three religions homologous" laid the foundation for blending the Buddhist thought in the Chinese traditional thought. The death of Liang Dynasty illustrates that we must accept the profound lessons of the rule of man of ancient and the rule of law must be necessary in modern society.
