The entire world has noticed that the rapid development of China recently, whichattracts a number of tourists to come to China for visiting. At the same time, with theimprovement of people’s living standard, the tourism industry has become more andmore related to us, and become a new national economic pillar. Including descriptionson tourism attraction, tourism texts are not only main task for tour operators, not alsotranslators. One of the most convenient ways to make foreign tourists knowinformation about places of interest and Chinese cultural is to convey natural, cultural,folk and other aspects of knowledge to them.After analyzing the tourism texts collected, we can easily find unnecessaryformational equivalence, lack of information and misnomers, even the low-levelspelling and grammar mistakes. This kind of tourist texts undoubtedly can’t efficientlyfunction, but also damage China’s image to foreign visitors.From the perspective of tourist attractions, this paper provides certain theoreticalguidance and translational skills according to German functionalism theory. Itsstructure can divided into five parts as follows. First of all, this paper expounds thepurpose and significance of the study, and points out that the high quality of thetranslations on tourism attractions could transmit the information related to naturalscenery, Chinese culture and local folk, attract more tourists to come to visit. Secondly,this paper analyzes the characteristics of descriptions on tourism attractions in bothChinese and English, providing a basic foundation for the following discussion.Thirdly, the strategies for C-E translation are mainly discussed, from the definition ofC-E for description on tourism attraction, characteristics of texts to culturalimplication. Finally, the conclusion is displayed in this part, and the meaning of thisresearch is illustrated.The results this paper gets can help to improve the C-E translation on descriptionof tourism attraction and provide guidance for translational practices. At the sametime, it is responsible for arouse the translators to contribute more for this field,response active to the appeal to develop tourism in the “12thFive Year Planâ€, andserve China’s economic development. |
