| This thesis applies theories of functionalism translation to the translation practice of Chinese tourism texts selected from one of Kaifeng tourism culture books entitled A Masterpiece: Shan-Shaan-Gan Guild Hall in Kaifeng and to the analysis of this translation practice as well. The objective of the thesis is to achieve a better translation effect of language and culture. This thesis holds that functional approaches to translation of Chinese tourism texts can not only help determine the translation criteria, but also realize a better communicative effect of certain cultural linguistic contexts. They give a better performance on both conveying information and attracting tourists. |
