The left hand piano concerto is a special form of piano concerto. It has an important historical significance, impact and research value, not only to Paul Wittgenstein and the five composers:Maurice Ravel, Sergei Prokofiev, Benjamin Britten, Richard Strauss, Franz Schmidt, but also to Contemporary left-hand piano works, pianist and even the development of piano music.In this thesis, starting from Paul Wittgenstein, and the backgrounds of the creation of the five left hand piano concertos, due to limited space, the author only did music analysis to three works which were often performed in public, and compared them with musical structure, orchestra, music scores and performances, etc. Then the author put those three as a whole, compared analysis with the performance characteristics with both hands piano concerto and drew the conclusions.The author hoped that this thesis can give some inspiration and help to the students of music major who want to do further research on Paul Wittgenstein and his five left hand piano concertos. |
