The Study On Several Questions About Zhi-Xian And Xian-Ling In Song Dynasty

The academia is paying more attention to the Song Dynasty political governance of local society with the thesis of local administrative system and government operations being concerned. The research generally is focusing on Lu路, Zhou州(Fu府),however, for the related information is fragment, lack of systematic, and even missing, there is not much research which focuses on county. In recent years, some papers about the district officials of Song Dynasty were published intensively, which filled the gap by more surveys and analysis. But some of them just focused on bureaucracy clarity, and their research material is simplex, so there is still a lot of thesis to be researched. This article tried to find the historical process of bureaucracy operation and the policy impact on county dimension by clarifying the system of the district magistrate, Zhi-Xian知县and Xian-Ling县令.The first chapter is a introduction. The chapter two firstly clarifies the differences between Zhi-Xian and Xian-Ling’s responsibility in Song Dynasty. Secondly, the article is a supplement for research of special county administrative settings, such as those counties directly under the Central Government, counties as Jun-Shi军使and the Jian监at county level. The chapter three introduces the importance attached to country administration in Song Dynasty, and then elaborates the selection conditions on Zhi-Xian and Xian-Ling,also its impact on management. The chapter four is discussing the difference between civil official and military officer, and the county-level officer rank. One side, the article clarifies the rules of records by basic historical material’s checking, the other side, it explains the conditions of the County Administration settings in different period and district with checking chorography, brief biographical sketches of a deceased person and epitaphs. Also, this research method is used consistently.
