Objective: To evaluate left ventricular function and synchronism withreal-time three-dimensional echocardiography (RT-3DE) in type2diabetesmellitus,and to explore the application value of RT-3DE on assessing thecardiac lesion in patients with type2diabetes, and the development of diabeticcardiovascular complications. Methods: Twenty-eight of subjects(13males and15females,mean age of55.95±9.59years) were patients with type2diabetes mellitus and hypertension(DM+HT group),thirty-two(15males and17females,mean age of54.16±8.44years) were type2diabetes mellitus(DM group),and thirty30(15males and15females,mean age of52.43±8.16years) were health adults(normalgroup). Left ventricular end-diastolic volume (LVEDV),left ventricularend-systolic volume (LVESV), left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF), leftventricular mass(LVM) and left ventricular mass index(LVMI)were measure with two-dimensional echocardiography and RT-3DE.Left ventricularcapacity-time curve parameters(including Tmsv16-SD, Tmsv12-SD, Tmsv6-SD,Tmsv16-Dif, Tmsv12-Dif, Tmsv6-Dif, Tmsv16-SD%,Tmsv12-SD%,Tmsv6-SD%,Tmsv16-Dif%,Tmsv12-Dif%,Tmsv6-Dif%)were measuredwith RT-3DE. The parameters were compared statistically between the threegroups, and the shape of the left ventricular volume-time curve shape in bothgroups was analyzed.Results:1, Compared with the normal group, LVEF measured withRT-3DE were markedly decreased in the DM+HT and DM group (p<0.05);2,Left ventricular capacity-time curve parameters (including Tmsv16-SD,Tmsv12-SD,Tmsv6-SD,Tmsv16-Dif,Tmsv12-Dif,Tmsv6-Dif, Tmsv16-SD%,Tmsv12-SD%,Tmsv6-SD%,Tmsv16-Dif%,Tmsv12-Dif%.Tmsv6-Dif%)were significantly increased in DM group and especially in DM+HT groupthan those in healthy group(p<0.01).3, The shape of the left ventricularvolume-time curve shape in DM+HT group and DM group was less regular thanthat in normal group. Conclusions: The left ventricular function and synchronism are damagedin patients with type2diabetes mellitus, and these changes will be more obviousalong with BP level rising.Real-time three-dimensional echocardiography canearly evaluate left ventricular function and synchronism in early type2diabetesmellitus.
