Objective Compare the clinical efficacy of dynamic hip screw(DHS) and locking compression plate(LCP) in treatment of intertrochanteric fractures in elderly patients. to explore the indications, considerations and complications of the LCP and DHS in treatment of intertrochanteric fractures in elderly patients.Method All the cases were collected from the orthopedic ward of the People’s Hospital of Beihai. From January2007to January2013, according to the case inclusion criteria and exclusion criteria, choose124intertrochanteric fractures patients who all have follow-up record. They were divided into two groups by internal fixation method:64cases for DHS group, use open reduction and DHS internal fixation;60cases for LCP group, use open reduction and LCP internal fixation. After12-15months’s follow-up,record the incision length, operative time, blood loss, complications of the two groups and observe complication; using SPSS16.0statistical software for statistical analysis. Results In patients with DHS group and LCP incision length, operation time, intraoperative blood loss, postoperative flow was statistically differences (P<0.05), LCP is better than that of DHS group; In postoperative weight-bearing time, fracture healing time, postoperative Harris score1year, the incidence of postoperative complications in two groups there is no significant difference. Conclusion LCP with DHS internal fixation to treat the elderly femoral intertrochanteric fracture curative effect has no significant difference, but the LCP internal fixation operation is relatively simple, short operation time, less trauma, is a good old age femoral intertrochanteric fractures treated by choice.
